I grew up in Roswell and was Young Life kid at Roswell High School. At the end of college when I really began to pursue a relationship with the Lord, I moved back to Roswell and served as a volunteer YL leader for three years. During those three years I sensed the Lord calling me onto Young Life Staff. I began on Young Life staff in Columbus, GA where I spent three years. After that I served as the YL Area Director in Suwanee/Buford, GA for 9 years. In the summer of 2022, I got the opportunity to come home and serve as Young Life Area Director of North Fulton which has been a tremendous gift. I’m so grateful to be home!
Heather Powell
Capernaum Director
I'm originally from Atlanta, a former Young Life kid, a lover of all things chocolate, and a mom to my son Brendan. After graduating from SMU, I served on YL staff in Texas and New Jersey. I have been involved in traditional Young Life and WyldLife as well as Young Life Capernaum, for teenagers with special needs. We are excited to see how Capernaum in North Fulton continues to grow and provide a place for teenagers and young adults with disabilities to belong while introducing them to the God who loves them just as they are.

I grew up in Gwinnett County and graduated from Collins Hill High School. Though I wasn’t a Young Life kid, I became a Young Life leader while attending Indiana Wesleyan University. After graduating, I served as a Year-Long Intern at SharpTop Cove, which further deepened my passion for this ministry. Now, my husband, Miller, and I live in Alpharetta, where we feel incredibly blessed to serve this community together. The Lord has been so faithful and kind in leading us here, and I’m both excited and expectant to see how He continues to work through North Fulton Young Life. It’s an honor to walk alongside teenagers in this area, particularly at Cambridge High School, Kings Ridge Christian School, and WyldLife.

I grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia and graduated from Starr's Mill High School. I was involved in WyldLife and Young Life in Fayette County, and started following the Lord at Young Life camp as a freshman in high school! I attended the University of Georgia, where I lead WyldLife in the greater Athens area. During these years leading, I felt the Lord nudging me to consider Young Life staff. I loved being with kids, and walking alongside them through every season of life. I started a Master's degree in 2024, thinking that I would just volunteer lead, until the Lord made it abundantly clear that he was calling me into full time Young Life staff! I started in North Fulton in August of 2025, and will be leading at Milton High School, while also helping with WyldLife. I feel really blessed and excited to be here!!
